Today’s announcement from Ontario’s premier focuses on getting people to where they need to be.
Doug Ford has announced 5.5 billion dollars for a new subway line in Scarborough.
He says this is a long awaited project.
Ford says this is part of a 28.5 billion dollar subway plan.
He is urging the Federal government to come on board to commit 40 percent of the costs for the new subway lines.
Ford says the new Scarborough project will cut carbon emissions by over 10 thousand tonnes a year.
He adds that it is estimated that this new line will have a hundred thousand boardings every day.
