The Town of Mono continues to work towards a 3.9 per cent tax increase.
During its most recent meeting, CAO Michael Dunmore told council that staff will work to reduce the operational costs as much as possible.
However, Dunmore said removing contributions to reserves would mean a significant increase in the future to fund capital projects.
He also said the other option would be the Town looking into debt financing.
Mayor Creelman says there likely some actions that can be taken to support climate change and the environment.
Creelman says if they do those things they could reduce electricity and fuel usage and thereby realize some savings.
Dunmore says one of those moves, which converted the town to using LED lighting, has significantly helped the Town’s energy use.
However, he says unfortunately those savings have been offset by the increase in hydro costs.
