The OPP are running their annual Canada Day campaign with a focus on safety equipment this year.
From June 24 through July 3, the OPP will be focusing on safety equipment on our roadways, trails, and waterways.
They say they’ll be making sure people are wearing their seatbelts, helmets, and personal flotation devices like life jackets.
The campaign will also be looking at unsafe driving behaviours including speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving or people simply not paying attention.
Officers say as always they’ll be looking out for people impaired by either alcohol or drugs.
A release from the service says every year, lack, or improper use of safety equipment is linked to a significant number of deaths and serious injuries on OPP-patrolled roads, waterways, and trails.
