A plan to use lands in Orangeville to form a new transit hub is progressing.
The Town of Orangeville and the County of Dufferin have been working on a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize use of the lands for a transit hub at the Edelbrock Centre in Orangeville.
The hub will provide transit routes with a central location to meet and initiate more efficient transfers.
It would feature a dedicated drive through road, 6.5 metres wide to accommodate Orangeville transit buses from Centre Street to Dawson Road.
It would also have a pedestrian crossing to link the two roads together, and a shelter.
This may help the town with future expansions to include more buses, and to initiate an on-demand transit feature.
Town staff presented the Memorandum to Orangeville Council on May 15, and it received unanimous support.
Construction of the new Transit Hub is expected to be completed this year.
