The Town of Shelburne is issuing a warning to families for this holiday weekend.
For the next while they want people to make sure to stay away from all stormwater ponds, at all times.
The stormwater management ponds are human-made infrastructure built to collect, store, and treat rainfall and surface water runoff, and are not for recreation purposes.
Stormwater runs off surfaces throughout the community collecting dirt, litter, and other pollutants before draining into the ponds.
Parents should keep any children away from the edge of the pond.
