Caledon OPP charged some tow truck drivers for an incident on Highway 9.
It happened May 31st when a single vehicle collision happened on the highway near Heart Lake Road where a tractor trailer went partially into a ditch and was blocking most of the road as well.
An off-duty Caledon OPP officer came across the scene minutes after the collision and provided assistance, and began the process of clearing the highway with tow trucks that arrived on scene.
While this process was under way, three tow trucks went past the waiting traffic and parked close-by.
Police investigation revealed that none of the three tow trucks held a valid Town of Caledon tow truck licence, and only one of the drivers held a Town of Caledon tow truck operators licence.
A total of 15 charges have been laid under both the Highway Traffic Act and the Town of Caledon By-Law, for not having proper licensing and attending the scene of a collision without having been called to by police.
