The Department of National Defence (DND) says the remains of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and a large part of the helicopter they crashed in have been located.
The DND said they were located early yesterday morning by the CAF and United States navy search and recovery team near the CH-148 Cyclone crash site off the coast of Greece.
It says over the next hours and days, the recovery team will continue its search for both our fallen and additional pieces of the wreckage.
The helicopter crashed into the Ionian Sea on April 29 within sight of the Halifax-class frigate HMCS Fredericton while participating in a NATO training mission.
All six service members on board were killed.
The body of Sub-Lt. Abbigail Cowbrough was previously recovered from the wreckage.
The missing Canadian servicemen have been identified as Capt. Brenden Ian MacDonald of New Glasgow, N.S.; Capt. Kevin Hagen of Nanaimo, B.C.; Capt. Maxime Miron-Morin from Trois-Rivieres, Que.; Sub-Lt. Matthew Pyke from Truro, N.S.; and Master Cpl. Matthew Cousins from Guelph, Ont.
Update: The combined #CAF and US Navy search and recovery team operating from EDT Hercules has located #Stalker22 and remains in the vicinity of the helicopter. pic.twitter.com/d3C1kmXJvO
