Raccoons and Skunks were most commonly infected in Ontario this year.
The number of rabies cases in Ontario jumped during August.
Figures released by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency show that in Ontario, 346 samples were submitted and a total of 19 rabies cases were found.
That is the highest number of the year in both submitted samples and cases.
So far in 2017, there is a total of 107 rabies cases in Ontario with the majority of them racoon.
Skunks are second on the list and there are 4 bovine cases of rabies this year but none confirmed since February.
Chicken Farmers of Canada has announced that Michael Laliberte has been selected as the incoming executive director, replacing Mike Dungate, who has held the role for over 20 years.
Laliberte assumes the position today, with Dungate remaining in an advisory capacity until the end of 2017.
He has 26 years experience at Chicken Farmers of Canada, most recently as Director of Operations.
