An emergency official says one person was injured when a tornado touched down in western Wisconsin, damaging 25 to 30 homes and farm buildings.

Gary Brown, emergency manager for Pierce County, says the person was in a barn when the storm hit and part of the building collapsed.

The tornado struck yesterday afternoon.

Brown says he saw several houses that had very significant damage.

Manitoba Pork is speaking out following a barn fire earlier this month near New Bothwell, Manitoba, which claimed the life about 35-hundred hogs.

Spokesman Mike Teillet says accidents do occur and the industry will continue to look at ways to prevent barn fires.

But he says they are relatively rare even given the number of farms out there.

He says Manitoba Pork has never opposed a reasonable farm building code.
