Beekeeping Courses

By Fadi Didi

Are you an aspiring beekeeper, or are you interested in how honey is produced?

You can learn about beekeeping during a special seminar at The Barn in Meaford on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1 o'clock (PM).

The cost is $50 per person.

Jeri Parrent, an accomplished bee enthusiast, will lead the discussion.

The workshop is meant to provide a basic understanding of honeybee biology and ecology, as well as an introduction to management approaches to beekeeping.

Organizers are already preparing for the 2017 International Plowing Match in the Huron County community of Walton.

The 100th annual I-P-M is scheduled from September 19th to the 23rd next year.

Marketing Coordinator, Emily Morrison, says more than 1,000 volunteers will be required to ensure that the event is a success.

Early last month, about 96,000 people attended the International Plowing Match in Harriston, and Morrison is keen to boost that number in 2017.

The popular farming event attracts people and politicians from throughout Canada.
