Jan Slomp will remain President of the National Farmers Union.

He was acclaimed -- along with a number of others for the executive -- at the lobby group's 46th National Convention in London.

Slomp -- who is setting up a farm in B-C after moving there from Alberta -- has been a dairy farmer since 1979.

Slomp said last week that as world leaders gather in Paris to talk about climate change -- farmers also can make a difference to global warming.

There's a local connection to this year's Outstanding Canada Young Farmers competition.

Mike and Amy Cronin of Bluevale were named co-winners.

Amy is Chair of the Ontario Pork Producers.

The Cronins operate several farms in Ontario and the United States, with over 17 thousand animals.

And the Ontario Federation of Agriculture has announced the winners of its first ever video competition.

Katie Lutz of Bruce County placed second in the "rant" category.

Her video was called "Tastes Like Home."

You can see all of the videos on the OFA YouTube channel.
