Royal Winter Fair Ends

Nearly 20 local farmers competed in Finals at the National Junior Beef Heifer Show.

The 93rd Royal Winter Fair wrapped up in Toronto on the weekend.

The week featured hundreds of animals from farms in our region.

Nearly 20 local farmers competed in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Showmanship Finals at the National Junior Beef Heifer Show.

The Champion Limousin Heifer was exhibited by Brad Macintyre of Lucknow.

Bailey McConnell of Kincardine won the Senior Showmanship title.

Sunspark Farm in South Bruce Peninsula was also represented at the Red and White Holstein show.

"Sunspark Armani Disco" -- a heifer born and bred at the local farm -- was second in the Intermediate calf class.

She was later named honourable mention junior champion.

In the Junior 3 year old class, Chancey Burgess of Mildmay was third, and won the best bred and owned award.

Hanover's Erich Kern was third and fifth in the heifer calf classes.

Stan Conquerwood from Maple Key Farm in Port Elgin was second and sixth in Yearling Female and third with the cow calf combination.
