There are fairs in Kincardine, Mitchell, Desboro, Durham, Mount Forest and Meaford this weekend.
Farming will take centre stage in many local rural communities -- it's Fall Fair weekend.
The Kincardine Fall Fair begins today at Connaught Park.
It has been extended an extra day for activities on Sunday -- including a miniature horse show.
The fairs at the Desboro arena and the Durham arena also begins today.
The fair at Keterson Park in Michell began yesterday.
The Mount Forest Fall Fair begins tommorrow and continues until Sunday.
The 160th Meaford and St. Vincent Fall Fairs is being held tomorrow.
The fairs include antique tractors, musical entertainment, carnivals and several 4-H show.
More hogs are being slaughtered in Canada.
Agriculture and AgriFood Canada reports there were just over 13 and a half million hogs slaughtered in federal and provincial plants to August 22nd.
That's an incresse of 3 per cent over the same period in 2014.
Ontario's hog slaughter numbers are nearly 2 per cent ahead of last year.
And an overgrown sheep found wandering the Australian wilderness has been shorn for what's likely the first time -- yielding nearly 45 kilos of wool.
The bulky sheep, dubbed Chris, was found in good health near a woodland sanctuary.
