New Look for Fruit Growers

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association has a new logo.

The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association is refreshing its corporate identity.

It's starting with a new logo -- designed to represent both the province's fruit and vegetable growers.

Vice President John Kelly says the logo has a clean, crisp look that clearly identifies what the association is and who it represents.

Kelly feels the logo will make it easier to make a lasting impression with government, industry and other stakeholders.


Farm and Food Care Ontario is hoping to have a million copies of its 'Real Dirt On Farming' booklet distributed across the country over the next few years.

The booklet is designed to answer some of the major questions consumers have about agriculture and food in this country.

Farm and Food Care did a poll of some 12-hundred Canadians to figure out what those questions were.

Spokeswoman Kelly Daynard says it's part of her organization's ongoing goal to connect consumers to the farmers who put the food on their tables.

Copies of the full booklet are available through the Farm and Food Care Ontario website.


Some changes in the leadership of Canada's pork industry.

Rick Bergmann -- a producer from the Steinbach, Manitoba area --= will be the next chairman of the Canadian Pork Council.

Bergmann is currently Vice Chair- -- and will succeed Jean-Guy Vincent early in the new year.


And Chocolate prices are expected to rise in time for Valentine's Day.

You can blame the rising cost of chocolate ingredients such as cocoa and dairy.

There is also increased demand for sweets around the world, especially Asia and Latin America.
