Masters and PHD grads coming from Meat Science program.

The University of Guelph is one of 5 universities to develop a shared graduate studies curriculum for the program.



Canada's first meat science graduate program could soon be turning out masters and P-H-D students.

Five post secondary schools are behind the new Canadian Meat Education and Training Network.

They include the University of Guelph.

The five universities are to develop a shared graduate studies curriculum for the program.

Students will also be expected to spend time in industry settings -- and complete an internship at a Canadian meat processing facility.



The United States' wheat crop is smaller than predicted due to drought.

The monthly update shows farmers produced 2.38 billion bushels of winter wheat -- that is down 2 per cent from a month ago and 10 per cent from last year.

But corn and soybean crop expectations are high.

Farmers are expected to produce a record 13.9 billion bushels of corn and 3.6 billion bushels of soybeans.

It takes on Saturday at the farm of Stefan and Rita Gubleman near Walton.

It will begin at 11 o'clock.
