The Ontario Seed Growers Association is happy with a report that shows the industry has a significant economic impact in the province.

The report was done by the George Morris Centre -- and it estimates the total economic impact of the certified seed industry in Ontario is close to 1 billion dollars.

An organization that represents Canada's pesticide manufacturers is stepping into the debate over bee health problems.

CropLife Canada says the Pest Management Regulatory Agency is missing the chance to take a long, hard look at other potential sources of bee deaths.

Spokesperson Pierre Petelle says if regulators banned pesticides every time activist groups called for a ban, Canadian growers would have no tools left to work with.

Petelle says the industry acknowledges there could be exposure problems at planting time -- but he argues there is no scientific evidence that neonics are also responsible for problems at other times of the year.
