Jim Ginn wins Environmental Stewardship Award for Clinton area farm.
The Reeve of Central Huron has won the Environmental Stewardship Award from the Ontario Cattlemen's Association.
Jim Ginn owns a 300 acre cow calf farm near Clinton -- and says has been working on environmental projects to better the land for nearly 25 years.
Ginn feels there are several things farmers can do that balances cost effectiveness with environmental stewardship.
Ginn says first realized the effectiveness of environmental projects when he planted 18 thousand trees and erected fencing near two streams.
He says the stream banks soon built back up and fish even return.
Another country is reopening their border to Canadian beef.
Peru is allowing Canadian cattle imports effective immediately.
Between Canada Beef and the Livestock Genetics Association -- they estimate the Peru market will be worth about 2 and a half million dollars this year.
All cattle born after August 1st of 2007 will be allowed to be shipped with the majority of that expected to be dairy genetics.
