The deadline is September 15th -- next Thursday -- if farmers want to apply for funding under the Environmental Farm Plan.
Jayne Dietrich of the Ontario Soil and Crop Association will be available at her Mildmay area farm to help producers complete their applications.
The next drop in session is next Monday from 10 till 4 or from 6:30 to 8:30 in the evening.
The Dietrich farm is located at sideroad 30 and Highway 9 south of Mildmay.
The Best Management Practice categories and cost share funding caps remain the same as the previous year.
The manager of the Verified Beef Production says more than 15 thousand producers have participated in the beef on-farm food safety program.
The producers have been taught different fundamentals and how they can use standard operating procedures to enhance animal health and feed management.
Producers have the option of having their records audited by an independent validation auditor to verify their efforts.
There are more than 80 thousand beef producers across Canada.
There is also an online version of the training program.
Quebec's agricultural co-operative -- Coop federee -- says it has acquired Agrico Canada in a move that improves its market position in Ontario.
The acquisition also gives the agricultural co-operative a stake in 11 retail companies -- in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
And the Canadian Food Inspection Agency says equine infectious anemia continues to be detected in Western Canada.
The agency says infected animals that leave B-C, Alberta and other areas pose a significant risk to other animals.
Owners of properties where horses co-mingle should take measures to protect their animals -- particularly if they are purchasing or receiving animals from the areas mentioned above.
