The Western Canadian Wheat Growers is trying to block the board from going to court over the Harper government's plan to strip the board of its monopoly powers.

A central Alberta community's feathers are ruffled over a regulator's decision to approve a new chicken plant against the town's wishes.

The Natural Resources Conservation Board approved the 150-thousand broiler chicken plant proposed by Crystal Poultry just outside Blackfalds.

The municipality says that is too close because of the smell and other air quality issues.

Mayor Melodie Stol says she is disappointed, but the town will have to learn to live with the decision.
