Cooking With Local Food


Grey Bruce Ag and Culinary Association offers cooking classes.


The Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association wants to get you cooking with local food.

Spokesperson Janice Mewhinny tells us they have started a series of cooking classes that highlight local food.

Mewhinny notes the classes have been well-attended so far.

Anyone over the age of eight is welcome to sign up -- and the cost is 15 to 20 dollars and that includes all of the food and supplies.

The number of horses infected with the deadly and contagious Equine Herpes Virus-1 continues to grow.

The U-S-D-A says the outbreak that started at a competition in Utah has infected at least 34 horses in nine states and Canada.

Fewer people are showing up at rodeos and some horse sales, and some events are being cancelled in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus.


Details on a compensation package in Manitoba for people impacted by flooding -- including farmers -- are expected today.

The Premier says his government realizes people have had several difficult years and that he wants to support them.


The cause of a blaze that killed 4 thousand hogs in Manitoba over the weekend is still under investigation.

The fire happened early Saturday morning and investigators believe the blaze was accidental.

There are no reports of people being injured, and there is no estimate on the cost of the damage.
