A Canadian analyst says U-S ethanol subsidies are the biggest factor driving up North American feed costs.

A Canadian analyst says U-S ethanol subsidies are the biggest factor driving up North American feed costs.

Kevin Grier is with the George Morris Centre in Guelph.

He says ethanol will burn up more of the U-S corn crop than will be consumed by cattle, hogs and poultry.

Grier adds the American situation is so out of control on ethanol -- that western Canada now has a feed cost advantage.
