Record Setting Farmers Week

It was a record setting 45th annual Grey Bruce Farmers Week.

Grey County Agricultural Services reports this year's show at the Elmwood Community Centre broke attendance records.

Manager Ray Robertson credits their programs that included a lot of information on farming techniques and technology -- especially about livestock.

Robertson adds they are already looking at what improvements can be made for the 46th annual Farmers Week.

The Western Canadian Crop Production Show is underway in Saskatoon.

About 15 thousand farmers are checking out the latest technology, services and products.

There are also combine clinics and presentations about micro nutrients, crop disease and environmental farm plans.

A case of 10 unclaimed horses that were found in northern Saskatchewan is leading to questions about whether they may have been abandoned.

Frankie Everest claims to have seen cases of horses dropped off in the woods because they aren't worth anything.

Firefighters were called to assist in an unusual rescue near Elmira on the weekend.

A horse named Ronnie-Joe had escaped from her pasture near West Montrose, and fallen into an underground water tank.

The 24 year old mare was stuck in the hole for hours before rescue crews were able to remove her.

The exhausted horse had hypothermia, but is expected to make a full recovery.
