Optimism For Farmers

FCC survey shows glass half full for most farmers.

The Grey Agricultural Services Centre has received new forms for the Environmental Farm Plan.

Producers who want to complete projects this year are encouraged the fill out the forms right away since funding is available on a first come basis.

Due to popular demand -- a second drop in session to help farmers is planned for tomorrow at the Centre in Markdale.

There is a lot of optimism on the farm these days despite some tough times over the past few years.

That is the result of a survey done for Farm Credit Canada -- which asked more than 4 thousand producers and agri food operators about their views on the state of agriculture.

Farm Credit Canada Western Ontario Vice President Barry Smith tells Bayshore Broadcasting News more than 55 per cent of those asked are very optimistic about the future of agriculture.

The survey shows dairy producers were the most optimistic, followed by those involved in the poultry sector and then the crop sectors.

Beef and hog producers were the least optimistic with 21 per cent of those asked saying they are pessimistic about the future.
