Strike Averted for Ontario School Support Workers

Regional | by Jill Young
A tentative deal was reached Sunday between CUPE and the province.

A strike that would have shuttered hundreds of schools across Ontario has been averted.

The province reached a tentative deal with CUPE,  the union representing thousands of education workers.

CUPE says the union was able to retain its sick leave plan and achieve a "modest" wage increase.

The 55,000 education workers, including custodians, clerical staff and early childhood educators, must still ratify the deal.
