Winter Weather This Weekend

Regional | by Ken Hashizume
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect, up 15 cm of snow and ice pellets expected.

Getting rid of old man winter is becoming easier said than done.

Environment Canada is out with a Winter Storm Warning for areas of Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Midland, Muskoka, Parry Sound, and parts of Dufferin County.

There is a Freezing Rain Warning for York, Peel, and Durham regions as well as the south end of Dufferin County, Toronto, and Hamilton.

The weather agency is calling for snow heavy at times mixed with ice pellets for Saturday.

That is expected to change to freezing rain by Sunday.

They say a moisture laden low pressure area over the Central Plains States will amble towards the lower Great Lakes this weekend pumping in cold Arctic air, forcing temperatures below freezing.

They say significant ice build is possible tomorrow and dangerous winter driving conditions are likely as untreated roads will become snow covered and slippery.
